Hi Zongyin,

Before starting a business I suggest you take a look at this free course "How to build a Startup" from Udacity.

You´ll learn how to validate your idea for the business. Many entrepreneurs fail in their first year because they don´t have a clear business model.

I wish you all the best.

I am glad to hear that you would like to become an entrepreneur. Have you identified what industry you would like to start with? I would suggest you approach below :
1. Identify some industries you are interested to start your business
2. Do analysis on industries, e.g. competition status, any entry criteria of the industry, any substitute / alternative of the industry, etc.? Shortlist one or two industries, etc.
3. Find out the relevant subjects to take it as major in the college and entry criteria
4. After entering the college, you can explore any intern opportunity to work in the industry to understand the operation process and establish the network
5. After you graduate from the industry, you can start working in the industry for a couple year to gain the experience and earn the funding to start the business. You can also consider to start the business online if possible.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Steve’s Answer

It's helpful if you have identified a product or service that you love to do and could see yourselves doing for a long time. You've started a business when you get a paying customer. Businesses cannot start or continue without customers. If you have something that customers will frequently purchase all the better. Finding new customers is important but keeping customers make's your business more long lasting and viable.

The other thing you may find gratifying is the social aspect of the customer relationships that you build. If done properly these relationships will also help you consider innovative ideas that come from customers to help build your business.
