Hi Silvia,

It's hard to answer your first question without an exact career title. Salaries are typically based on the industry, job title, geographical location, years of experience, job level type (entry, mid-level, director, senior director, executive, etc.), and job duties. My suggestion is to do some research on Glassdoor to determine salary ranges for chefs in your targeted area. As far as career training, you'll need to do some research on culinary schools and identify the school(s) that match closely with your values and future outcomes. To determine better opportunities for your career, I suggest doing research on companies to determine the top 5 places you'd like to work. Next, connect with staff on LinkedIn who hold similar titles to what you're looking for and conduct informational interviews. This will help you gain network connections and have a solid understanding of the industry.

Aloha,

This career has a vast range in pay that varies based on experience, geographical location and even type of dining. Usual averages around $15.00-$25.00/ hour for cooks and $36,000-$80,000 for Chefs.

You really should always be learning. Constant practice, creating, researching. Be confident in yourself, yet humble enough to always become better.

You can do it Silvia! In terms of pay, the areas you mentioned above may not start out paying that much as you start off, however the upside could be enormous. Meaning, think about all of the musicians and chefs that you may see online or TV...many of them started out w/ very little and grew to have great success. I'd suggest that you continue to hone in on our craft, develop your cooking and music abilities then make sure you are building a following of people who are interested...focus in on your passion and the money will come eventually.

Regarding the opportunities part of your question, I'd encourage you to look at culinary schools/programs as well as music schools/programs that can help you develop your crafts.
