Hi Kinly!
Everyone has different study techniques that are going to help them more than others so first I would encourage you to understand that you might need to try a few things before you find what works. I can tell you though that shaping your studying to focus on retrieval and retesting methods tend to work best. Essentially, when you are studying try to retest and retrieve information you should know without looking at your notes. In terms of organizing your study time, you should try the Pomodoro technique. This technique essentially encourages you to study in short bursts and it is an effective study method because it allows you to implement consistent studying which will help implement course material into your long term memory. Hope this helped!

For the first 1-2 months of a new class, I remember studying the material especially well because I wanted to develop a 'knowledge foundation'. Particularly for my quantitative classes, every topic built upon the knowledge foundation, so making sure I had a strong base was key to my success and ensured I was consistent.
I highly recommend also putting in the extra time to go to professors' office hours for any material / topics that are unclear to you. This 1 on 1 way of learning was extremely helpful for me, as it gave time for me to absorb the information at my own pace and make sure I really understood topics.

The advice I would give for academic success is to have a routine and organization. By organizing your time, you can allot time to studying and work for school. This way, you can always plan to stay ahead of your school schedule and do assignments early. By doing assignments early you get the benefits of being able to ask your instructor for feedback before submitting, creating a better quality of work because you have more time to work on the assignment, etc. The same advice goes for exam taking. If you plan to study for your exam early enough, you will have time to master the material and ask your instructors to help you grasp concepts that may not be easy for you.

Going off of organization and time management, a tool that I found especially useful during college is Google Calendar. I was able to transfer all of my due dates into Google calendar. In doing so I was not only able to see upcoming assignments and exams, but also non-academic related events. This tool helped me find much-needed balance.
