Allen’s Answer
For me, it's two main things:
- Critical thinking/ creativity. Staying challenged and engaged in my work is awesome. There's always some new problem that requires skill to analyze, break down, and solve. I live for that.
- Diversity of tasks. Every day I do something different. Even if I am just analyzing threats, those threats change every day. For example, this week I have Threat Hunted, done a technical writing piece, worked to deep-dive on escalation tickets, wrote code for a small project, outlined and designed the start of a really big coding project, researched various malware, studied for certs, triaged incoming alerts, and even some offensive security. It changes every day because there's always more to do!

Problem solving and being part of a digital transformation age which is forever changing. I haven't officially secured a job in cybersecurity but from the content I studied for my degree in business information systems, which allowed me to see how I can help businesses and clients protect their private information against fraud and hackers. I also particularly enjoyed that when I think of cybersecurity I think of my favorite superhero scene in Spiderman where he was told that "with great power comes great responsibility", therefore it is my duty to protect peoples private information even if I haven't met them in real life. Lastly cyber security helps you think outside of the box in terms of problem solving, whereby traditional approaches might be relevant for certain attacks but as technology innovates you're required to innovate and be on the front line.

Adam’s Answer
I think the best part of cybersecurity is that it allows for me to think outside the box, either with problem solving, understanding a threat or potential risk. I feel that cyber is an area where you find the most innovative thinkers as the actors both for good and bad are constantly thinking on how to circumvent what exist today.

This is a great question! One of the most rewarding aspects of this job is that technology is always changing meaning the technology changes and there will always be new solutions to address problems and issues that a company faces when it comes to cyber security. There will always be "bad people" that will want to do harm to a business or an individual.. You have the ability to be in an industry that can provide solutions to stop the "bad people" from getting into a business or an individuals sensitive information.

Kevin’s Answer
I enjoy the dynamic nature of the job (in responding to security incidents) and the opportunity to improve the security posture of the company. It can be extremely stressful at times and isn't for everyone.
Every day is a different and complex series of problems to solve. I have the opportunity to engage with people from all over the world with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Solutions are not straightforward and can be addressed simply within a week or could take months to years. Additionally, it helps to be part of the Disney family -realizing you are ultimately protecting guest and keeping their experiences as "magical" as possible!
