Gloria’s Answer

Hi Frankie,

Law is a noble profession. It can be challenging. The first thing that you need to consider is why you want to practice law, any kind of law. You will be acting in service of others, which can be a very challenging task, whatever law you practice. You have to like people and communicate well, both in speaking and writing. The second thing to consider is HOW you want to help people. There are many fields of law. You will need to determine what suits you best. And you have to have an intense desire to learn because the law is always constantly changing. I think about tax law, for example. The tax codes are constantly evolving, requiring you to be in constant study of those codes.

Paul V.’s Answer

What kind of laws are you interested in? There are as many kinds of lawyers as there are kinds of laws. Maybe take a trip to a public library near you and ask a librarian for assistance locating materials in your area(s) of legal interest. Talk to your teacher(s) and ask for advice about what you can do to learn more.

Paul V. recommends the following next steps:

Go to a public library
Ask a librarian
Locate legal materials
Talk to your teachers
Ask for advice
