It would depend on the company you are working for, but most of the time it would be the minimum wage based on the state.

The rates will vary by state, company and many other factors. You'll find a lot of cashier roles can be part time, full time, weird hours, etc., so make sure you not only plan for the hourly wages, but also the timing and days you may have to work (holidays such as thanksgiving / Black Friday).

Every state has what is called a "minimum wage". This for most companies is the minimum starting pay that you can pay an employee for a job. I see it has you listed in South Carolina, and when I look up the state's minimum wage, it shows it as $7.25 per hour. In Arizona, the state minimum wage is showing as $12.80 per hour. Now the reason I tell you this is to help you understand there is no standard pay for one type of job because companies may have different requirements for their cashiers or offer more per hour to employees who may have more experience. Some cashier positions are entry level, which means you will probably start off pretty close to the minimum wage, but there are some that may offer better pay too! Everybody will have to start their first jobs somewhere and as you learn more and get more experience, you can always earn more. When you get ready to apply, most jobs will list what you can expect to receive per hour, and when you start doing interviews this will also be something that they will talk to you about at that time.
