Career Choice Advice
I'm almost 28 right now. About 4 years ago, I used to work as sales advisor for a famous fashion brand, but for personal reasons I had to quit the job.
My actual personal situation doesn't allow me to stay away for long period from home. So, especially during the pandemic, I started thinking working from home because I don't like my life and I want to change my actual situation both financially and personally.
I'm dwelling between being an artist and being a copywriter.
I've always loved art and even if I belive I'm not good at it. I would like to give it a try but I know it will take a lot of time before seeing results and be able to earn money. That's the why I've always give up art because my financial situation is not so good right now and I need to have a stable income.
On the other hand, during the pandemic I discovered copywriting while browsing YouTube videos. I'm also interested in writing and marketing, but I'm not sure if this career is fit for me. If there is somebody who have experience in this field, I would like to know how it is working as a copywriter.
I'm thinking to learn copywriting and then start freelancing and doing art as a side hustle. But do you think is possible or it's better I focus on just one?
Thanks in advance for your help. I have no one to talk about my problems and I really appreciate all of your advice.
I just wanted to let you know English is not my native language, so sorry for any typos. Thanks again! I'm really grateful for all your help!

I can't tell that English isn't your native language, I understood you perfectly! I am not a copywriter but I do work with many of them in my current role, copywriting can translate to many things. I also view copywriting as a form of art, and in someway exercising that skill can elevate you as an artist so why not focus on that first. Also I would identify what copywriting means to you and how you would find fulfillment in it. You can leverage platforms like LinkedIn to learn about different copywriting careers, which will vary amongst different industries and organizations. Build your network socially and leverage experts in the field to provide you advice.
Keep your head up, you will do great things!

I worked 10+yrs in the advertising industry in New York City as an Account Manager/Executive for some large brands. I truly value great copyrighters and art directors. I would suggest, if you're getting involved in the field to look into Advertising Agencies, either freelance or full time could offer great exposure into a variety of different copywriting pathways - broadcast, print, digital, B2B, and others. As some other responses to your question mentioned, the post-pandemic market allows for work-from-home dynamics. This could be a great foot in the door, and exposure to how advertising/marketing writing works.
And just my perspective: a great copywriter, is fundamentally a navigator. They need to understand how to bring a brand objective or selling point into everyday dialogue and make it sound interesting — usually with limited sentences and characters. But when they hit that sweet spot, you get those cultural brand moments like "The most interesting man in the world" or "Can you hear me now?". And they are partners with an art director who works with a copyrighter to bring a brand communication to life, that we as consumers see on TV or online.
Hope this was somewhat helpful. Good luck!
