Hey there Lily - I think it is so important for your work to be rewarding & provide you with purpose. I would start with listing out the types of activities & skills you enjoy. You can also use tools like Strengthen Finders to further assist you in narrowing down skills & possible careers.
Thank you for the advice.

Do your research. Try this exercise. Best of luck to you!
Find five people successful in your area of interests.
Find their biographies (via: articles, videos, linkedIn, or reach out etc.)
Try to find trends or hidden advice through your research.
Repeat steps 1-3 with additional people until you get confident you are on the right track.
Test your research skills by practicing a One Minute speech based on the question 'Why are you applying to those colleges/jobs?' The more confident you can answer, means you are on the right track.

Apply to a major that most intrigues you. This will most likely help you find classes that you are passionate about, but don’t forget to take classes outside of those interests as you might find other interests in new things. Furthermore, joining campus clubs is a great way to meet people who are passionate about the same things as you, building up your community of like minded friends who may have advice for experiences similar to yours.
Thank you!

Thank you for your question.
Firstly, I hope you take the subjects in the college that you have interest on. You consider your favourite subjects in the high school or the relevant subjects on the career you plan to do after graduation.
On the other hand, there are many recreational clubs in the college you can join. You can enjoy the activities and establish network with others who have the same interest.
After graduation, you can work on the industry you have interest on and put some time on your hobbies. The most important is time management.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hello, I would suggest you research colleges and universities with areas of study where you have the most interest and passion. With that said, depending on what that is, you may not find an exact match in curriculum but could benefit by joining one or a few of the many clubs that could provide you insight and exposure to those interest. Generally, clubs have or distribute career and volunteer opportunities that lead to members securing jobs of their interest. Be okay with your interest at the start of your academic and career journey changing as you learn more and interact with people offering broader awareness into the areas you want to explore. You will have transferrable knowledge and skills from both your college and job experiences that will prove beneficial in landing that perfect job aligned with your passion.
Thank you!

Hi lily, I would personally list down some of your interests and then go through that list and look into careers in whatever you listed down. Try to envision yourself doing some of those things. You can look into majors and what classes you have to take for those majors and see what you like and dislike. You can also talk to counselors at a college you plan to attend and they can give you more insight on things!
Thank you for taking the time to help.

Hi Lily,
Your challenge is going to be able to articulate your interests into skills. For example, if you like to write stories or poetry, that would translate into written communication skills. If you are someone who loves history, you need to determine how your interest would translate into a skill. Would you want to teach or do research or write historical books? If you like to help people, do you want to be a teacher, work for a non-profit, or become a doctor? This is taking a look at what you love and try to see HOW you would apply that love to a real world job or career.

Hey Lily! There will always be opportunities for your passions near you! I know that in my school there's a lot of clubs that table outside of the library to flyer out to students who pass by and there might be similar opportunities for your school as well. There are often times where clubs even have social media pages dedicated to their clubs so if you're interested in a certain thing you can find it by typing out your school and the club name. Career fairs are a good way to search through both jobs and clubs and there are times where you can find an online catalog of your school's clubs.
Thank you!

Hi Lily,
One way to apply interests into jobs and college is to seek out opportunities to pursue those interests. It could be thinking about what major or course path fits your interests. Then you can begin connecting with others who share those same interests or connect with professors who might be able to steer you into the right direction. You can also seek out internships to further experience and pursue those interests as well.
I liked Janet's advice above. Seek out successful people who are successful in the areas you are interested in and learn about them. Learn what path they took. Learn what they did to pursue their passion. Diving into your interests will allow you to find opportunities that you can pursue that set you down the path of applying your interests to a future career!
Best of Luck,
Brad

Hi Lily...when it comes to college I would recommend joining clubs based on your interests. There will be clubs for EVERYTHING, so you just have to find them and go to their meetings. Colleges usually have some type of club fair where you can see every club that's out there and then you'll just sign up and they'll reach out with meeting info.
When it comes to jobs, I would recommend listing out your interests and then finding companies that relate to those interests. For example, if you love to read, consider Barnes and Noble. Go on their website and look for job openings they should have a career section where you can see potential options.

Hey! This is a great question I was also in the same spot when I was starting college. I recommend the same as above the best way to learn is from others! See what those around you or mentors to you are learning and if you enjoy the same path. If not, look into current trends in skills you have as they would all be applicable. After all this, at the end of the day there will always be a spot for you. Good luck!
