When working in collision repair keep in mind that every accident is different. That's why they're accidents. However, in the nature of driving most common parts of vehicle damage are front and back. Especially the front. Damages include headlights, crash bars, core support, radiators, condensers, clutch/electrical fans, frame bent, and just about anything typically found in the front of vehicles. If it happens to be a rear-mounted engine car, expect greater frame damage. There are advisors and appraisers as well as management to handle "busy" days. Cars being repaired of such nature are typically not in a rush and are by appointment via private party, insurance, etc. They have their labor hours with corresponding "promise" dates in order to avoid rushed work. You should stop by some shops and ask about opportunities or even shadowing!

Hi Alyssa,
From a customer's perspective, I would say you will mainly do checks on mileage, tires, brake/gear oil, etc., to see whether they need repair/change.
Occasionally, you will face car breakdowns or some malfunction, then you will have to troubleshoot.
As mentioned, I believe you can search for a shop and ask if you can tag along to see what is really going on.
Good luck.

Hi Alyssa. I would recommend googling a collision shop in your area and asking if you can shadow them for a day. If you have a social media following, you can make it worth their while by telling them you'll feature segments of the shadow on your social media account which will help their business. I think this would give you an idea of what really goes on at a collision repair shop.
