Thank you for your question. I am glad to hear that you are interest in Technology.
In fact, there are different computer engineers, there work scope is different. E.g. Systems Engineers who works on hardware that including different platforms like mainframe, PC, storage, etc. and software engineer who key role is to do coding on different platforms,
For System Engineer who focuses on hardware, they can work in house or work for manufacturers / vendors. For the earlier one, they may face the in house users on the hardware maintenance and platform. For those working for manufacturers/ vendors, they may need to visit the client for system maintenance.
I suggest you speak to someone or alumni to understand more on the working life. This will help you to acquire on the work and decide what you would like to pursue in the future.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

A computer engineer is someone who loves problem solving. The way that you code a solution to an issue is never ending. Currently the industry is moving toward automation (removing the manual user action that are repetitive). A computer engineer, looks at the process (process mapping), then tries to understand the friction in the system (manual user interventions), and figures out what repetitive items can be done by code (machine language). It can be quite demanding, but fun at the same time. You have to be willing to think outside the box and where the users hat but also think 2 to 3 steps ahead :). Enjoy!

Sachin’s Answer
The job scope for a computer engineer is boundless. Most of the times people hear of computer engineering and assume coding is the logical end to it. However there are several aspects of computer engineering where you may not need to code. One of them being software testing. The tester evaluates the codes/software written by other engineers in comparison with what the customer requires. The tester puts together an analysis of what the customer asked for, what the code should be doing and what does the code do in actual. This is an important and necessary step before turning in the project/application to the customer. A further career step to the testers' role is to become a Software Quality Manager who will supervise several testers and may also write the testing steps.

It's the most never-ending job in the market. It is fun if you like coding and logic.
Hi Prachi! Thanks for answering the Student’s question. Could you add some more detail to your advice? I think the Student might also want to know about your day-to-day schedule and responsibilities, job outlook, benefits/salary, work-life balance, or any other details you could offer. Thanks!
