Madi’s Answer

Hi Fernanda,

There are many things I enjoy about working with my current company. Firstly, the people are amazing. They come from a variety of different backgrounds and skill sets. Not only do I learn about business and technical topics from the people that I talk to, I also learn about their cultures, hobbies and travels. It's all very interesting. Secondly, I enjoy the actual work that I do. Thirdly, I enjoy the benefits that my job offers such as hybrid working models and paid time off.

Britta’s Answer

Hi Fernanda!

I love working for my company, because of the way it supports me professionally and personally. On a professional level, I'm given opportunities every day to grow in my role and be exposed to new areas of the business. The work challenges me, and my team + leaders provide the utmost the support as we solve problems together. What we do matters. People are kind, helpful, and not competitive with one another. Diversity is supported and encouraged at every single level! On a personal level, the compensation, benefits, office amenities, and overall flexibility are fundamental in my life. I'm a new mom and the main income in our home, so I needed a job where my personal life was understood and supported, not frowned upon. Examples of this include having incredible paid leave after I had my baby (HPE gives 6 months paid leave to parents!), a hybrid work environment, the ability to use sick leave to care for my baby, and flexibility for other situations when life just happens.

Hi fernanda,

My favorite thing about working at my company is working for a company that has a high standard in the work that I do. I am in Learning and Development at AT&T. The people around me are very talented, pushing me to learn and do more complicated work to a very high standard. The company also has a focus on us always learning new things about what we do and how we do it. And they provide us the resources to do the cutting edge work.

Hello!~

I love working for my company (Verizon)! I have worked for this company for over 20 years. In that time frame, I have learned and excelled with 10 different positions.

Here are a few of my favorite things that I enjoy working for Verizon:

1. Verizon is extremely generous with pay and benefits. This company invests in their employees. I was able to graduate with a Master's degree in business completely supplemented by the company.

2. If you express an interest in advancing your career at Verizon, the senior leadership takes you seriously and guides you along your career path by developing you with various in-house programs and mentorships to reach your goal.

3. The company as a whole cares about its employees. It provides quarterly surveys to get feedback from all employees on what the company is doing well, what the company can do better, and making sure the employees feel valued and heard.

4. The people that work here - some of my greatest friendships all began here at this company. The company hires good, intelligent people from all types of different backgrounds. Every day you can learn something new from someone.

Michele’s Answer

I've been with my company over 25 years and I think my favorite thing is the variety of career paths I was able to take - and still can. I was able to focus on skills development and experiences that broadened my perspective about what I wanted to do next. I started years ago as a Technical Specialist working with clients, then I moved over the sales enablement then somehow I ended up in Marketing - working with Business Partners then doing strategy. I became a Campaign Manager and for almost 10 years learned the software business and solutions. That led me back into the technical side of the house - now I'm a Software Release Manager. If you had asked me 25 years ago if my career would like I would never have foreseen this. Some people thrive in a single profession with a clear, prescriptive path forward/upward. For those like myself where flexibility to learn and grow motivate us, its been a great experience and career.

I have to say I also had and still have great mentors - from Executive down to the Subject Matter Experts who seems to just know everything! There was always someone there to help, provide guidance and advice. It was an important enabler to my career. Hope this helped!

Mike’s Answer

When people are happy at a company, it's never an accident. And it's not usually just about the money, or even the work the company does. It's the culture. A company is, by nature, made up of different people with different approaches. It's the company culture that connects them, helps them work together, aligns and amplifies what they agree on, and makes their differences powerful instead of destructive.

Culture is often driven by the company's leaders; an extension of their personalities and work styles. Sometimes a company will put a person or even a whole department in charge of company culture. It's all about the execution, though; which is ongoing and requires constant attention.

Look for companies with well-defined values that are communicated boldly and regularly, and lived by the people who work there. Look for companies that value and actively center diversity; these are the companies that can draw power from differences in opinion and style and approach. Look for workers who are confident in the knowledge that they know how to succeed where they work, and that they understand what it means to work for their company.

Eleanor’s Answer

Hi Fernanda!

Some things I really enjoy about working for Verizon:

1. Senior leadership genuinely cares about employee feedback. We routinely survey employees for various types of feedback, and then leaders spend a lot of time analyzing the data and reading all the verbatim responses (yes, really). Then leaders and their teams participate in action planning to address the feedback and close the loop with any changes/improvements made.

2. Anytime I've asked anyone for help, that person has always been helpful. Even if that person can't help, I've found that they are always willing to point me to someone who can. There are a multitude of development opportunities throughout the business - just ask.

3. Generous pay and benefits with commitment to pay equity.

4. The work we do matters.

Connor’s Answer

Hi Fernanda!

There are quite a lot of things I like about the job I currently work. Currently we are allowed to work from home, and I really enjoy this as I am able to save time and money driving to and from an office. My team is great! My colleagues and my boss are all very generous, willing to help, and create an environment for us to be ourselves. The perks are a plus! They give me paid time off, healthcare, dental, vision, 401K match, and an allowance every year to expense our cell phone and anything we do that is to better ourselves (for example buying workout equipment or taking classes to learn something).

I know it sounds a little too good to be true, but I tell myself that all the time. I am truly fortunate to have the job I have.

I wish you the best!

Bernadette’s Answer

It's so important to select the right company that fits your personality and style... so pay attention to the interviewer and ask lots of questions.
I have been with Verizon for quite some time and honestly, I would not have it any other way for a number of reasons:
- leadership who cares, listens and is committed to their customers and employees (ongoing conversations/surveys that allow employees to voice out their needs, likes, concerns... and actions are taken).
- collegues with whom you will spend majority of your time and people with whom you will create strong relationships --- those are the people who are your best friends for good and bad
- environment that provides you with opportunities to learn, flexibilities to show what you got, and satisfaction of being a part of something grater that makes a difference in peoples lives.
You will find the right place that is just for you, just open your mind and heart, listen and ask with honesty.... when you get the feeling in your heart, that is it, that is the right fit for you.

Jen’s Answer

The Company that I currently work for offers great benefits (Insurance, PTO, Wellness resources, etc.). This should not be a #1 reason to work for a specific company, but it is important and shouldn't be overlooked. My company cares a lot about their employees and their feedback by sending several surveys throughout the year. They are focused on making sure we are satisfied and if there is anything they can improve on, they want to know. They even have their own website link where you can submit any idea you feel would benefit the company whether it's installing automatic doors in the building, or changing a system process.
I work remotely, which I really enjoy. Our company has set up different ways to keep track of individual's daily/weekly/monthly production, as well as keeping track of the availability each person has on their phones (they require a specific amount of hours availability each day). It makes me feel better knowing they can see the hard work that I'm putting in each day rather than just "hoping" that I'm doing the right thing.
Lastly, we have weekly meetings with our Team, and monthly 1 on 1's with our Leaders, so we can go over numbers and discuss any questions, processes, or concerns someone may have. Communication is definitely key when it comes to remote positions.
