I don't fully know what resources are available in your location, but you may want to reach out to a school advisor or academic counselor if there is one at your school. Otherwise, you can look for any recruiters in your area, and you can apply online to many internships.

Here are a couple sites that may be able to help get you started:

Hi Shaina:

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is a top growing area to consider. If you have an academic counselor I suggest that you meet with them to discuss your interests and, to see if they have any resources they could share with you. Also, you could do a search on "virtual summer STEM programs and internships near me" to see if it provides any good opportunities and leads. Best of luck on your journey!

Some companies recruit high schoolers for internships, like Lockheed Martin, Cisco, NVIDIA, + many more. Try getting on some career platforms, (I've had success with RippleMatch, but the OA's are usually pretty difficult in my experience), and have your teachers look over your resume.

Hi, you can also search for internships in your field of interest in specific University websites. Some universities have summer internships for rising juniors and seniors like Duke STAR program. I would also search "summer internship for high school students near me" that might give you some leads too.
Good luck!!

As others have said, it is definitely advisable to search online for internships near your location. While many companies do offer internships for high school students, they are highly contested because of the scarcity and competition. I would definitely suggest throwing your hat in the ring and seeing how it turns out. Once you start university, take advantage of the resources your college offers, such as career fairs and career advisors. Don't be discouraged by rejections. Good luck!

You can start to build your resume on Linkedin, and look for opportunities there.
There're various cooperate on Linkedin, and you can check on those international companies.
Typically, the well-known company will provide more internships, but there'll be more competitors to compete.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to hear that you are interested in STEM and would like to look for intern opportunity. I am not sure the reason why you are look for virtual intern opportunities.
You can try to explore intern opportunities below :
1. Large Tech Corp may post their Internship program on their career website
2. Some companies also post their programs in school career office
3. If you have any corporates that you have interest in, you can also send them an email with you cv to look for opportunities.
On the other hand, through the internship, you can understand how the real life working environment operates and establish network with the people who are working in the industry. If it is a virtual internship, you may not have gain these experience. Suggest you can re-consider whether you still prefer to have virtual internship.
Hope this can help! Good Luck!
