What is your best advice for getting experience/jobs before going into medical device sales? I am looking to know what summer jobs would be best for me to apply to.

I am currently planning on attending the Medical Devices College do do the 12 week course after I graduate. However, I want to know what jobs you suggest I look for before getting to that stage in order to best prepare me.

I get to work with a number of reps from different companies at my job. What I hear is that you need to be personable, work well with others, be able to learn quickly, and have some kind of health related experience. While the assorted device sales boot camps can be appealing, nothing beats job experience. I would recommend anything that gets you in an OR or surgical office for a prep job. I would also recommend looking for entry level jobs in smaller, or subsidiary device companies, this can be an even better way to access the field than a bootcamp. The bootcamps aren't a bad option, but on the job training is best as devices and their related anatomy are very specific.

Hi Taylor, assuming a career trajectory medical sales assistant to medical sales rep. I recommend starting with an administrative support role to a sales rep or in an medical office. You can work backwards by reviewing the requirements of medical sales assistant job postings and your desired employers a few years from now. I conducted a search of such job postings and found that most large companies require 2 years of general medical or sales experience coupled with Associate Degree or Medical Certification (CST, PT). I also recommend continuing to build your network with professionals in the field you are pursing. Most companies prioritize employee referrals when recruiting for a position.
