A lot of job posting websites have openings for creatives. LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, and Ziprecruiter come to mind. Also, word of mouth, social media, and a good website/portfolio help a lot for exposure and to be approached!

Hi Melissa,
Art directors work all over the place. Advertising agencies, retail companies, design studios, publishing companies, website design companies, computer games companies, and so on. Just about every state in the US, and just about every big city in the US has positions for art directors. So, pick where you want to live, what kind of art and design you like, and search companies in the categories listed above.
However, I hope you realize that "Art Director" is rarely, if ever, an entry level position. Most art directors start our as graphic designers and work their way up. It can be a competitive position, so be prepared to work hard on your artwork, be a good team player, and be patient. Take art and graphic design classes now and work on your art portfolio so that you can get your first job as a graphic designer, and work up to an art directorship from there.
Best wishes.
