Gloria’s Answer

HI Computer 2,

The short answer is not a very complete answer. It depends. I understood your question to be - how long does it take to edit a video (or film). There are challenges presented by the complexity of the video as well as how much video you have been given. For example, say the the output of your video is 30 minutes, live action. This might be something like a long form interview between two people. As a video editor, you may get up to 100 minutes of content (or more). Editing includes determining what is included and what is removed from the source material that you have been given.

Haolong’s Answer

It is depends what project are you doing. If it is a long project, you will need more time. For example, I did the tap water project. Due to a lot of B-roll and interviews. It taken my team about 2 weeks long to editing video, even though the video total is 13 minutes. We have a lot of details to deal with in order to get better project. Like, the cut bad parts, adjust color, add background music, add graphic and titles... So, it is hard to say how long we can spend on the video editing.

Hope this can help you.

Good answer Gloria. Computer 2, if you are referring to normal weekly hours it really depends. If you establish yourself as an editor, with a good portfolio and reel, you can work for 2-3 weeks on a project and make a good amount of money. You can then take some time off. It depends on how much you want to work and how much money you want to make. That being said, especially if you are starting off, you want to get as many clients as you can and build up your portfolio.
Hope this helps!

40 hours a week and it also depends on the turnaround time for the project.
