Here is a list of the top 100 psychology programs as far as universities/colleges go. And good news, there are more in New England than in any other region of the country.

You know, I thought about being a psych major. So I took a bunch of psych courses when I was an undergrad, not just psych 101. And I didn’t like it! So take a few courses after intro. Do you want to do research? Or be a therapist and work with people? See if you can do courses related to what you think you want to do with a psych degree. BTW, I got my PhD in education and was a professor of social justice for 30+ years and am happily retired now at age 71. But I miss working with young people! Good luck!!! Lisa

Hi Allie,
I am not sure which schools have the best psych programs, but one thing you can do is check out the website of a couple of nearby schools and browse the classes available for psychology on their course catalog. This can give you a good idea if these schools have classes that interest you. Also knowing who the professors are (through the school page) and how others rate their class (like on the ratemyprofessor website) can be helpful! Personally, I think as long as you get the general courses like gen psych, developmental psych, etc, in, and some good electives, the undergrad degree is fine even if it's not from a prestigious program. Personally, I would aim for a good program for graduate school if you are pursuing further education after your undergraduate degree. A good resource is also your school counselor to help you know what to keep an eye out for! Good luck and don't worry--I changed my mind plenty in high school and college! Just test and try what you like at this time :).
