Go on YouTube and looks for After Effects tutorials. Some other pieces of software to check out might be Davinci Resolve and even Unreal Engine.

Special Effects, is everything that is capture by the camera during the shoot of movie or series. This means that any explosion, fire, gunfire, parts of a set shaking, door opens by itself, etc. is a special effect. There's a team assigned for this department and they work hand-in-hand with production design (set building ), locations and with visual effects (visual effects is everything that gets added in Post production or during virtual production).
