It is possible to become a lawyer even if you are not an excellent reader. However, you need good reading skills in order to become a lawyer. Apply the passion that you have in wanting to become a lawyer towards improving your reading skills. If you do not enjoy reading, try reading books, articles, and/or magazines about your favorite topics. With hard word you can achieve your goals.

Thank you comment icon my dad is a lawyer and he has to read many papers in a short span of time. I would advise you not be a lawyer if you don't like reading. Also, not all lawyers have to debate so it's not a specific trait you need unless you are thinking of a certain field. karen

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. The legal field is very diverse. You could write appellate briefs if you love to write. Or you could be a trial attorney if you love to speak. Learning to read cases is a very different kind of reading. You will do so much of it the first year of law school though that it will become easier by second year. (My wife is an attorney and I’m relaying her experience).
