You can't just throw a number at it . Rent or mortgage , insurance, utilities , labor , food , advertising, cleaning, plate ware, ware washing... it goes on and on. To net 10-15% of total sales as an owner operator is good. At least in my experience. Find a good investor you can trust, get everything in writing and plan to work harder than you can imagine for a long time..

Cory’s Answer

The cost of opening a restaurant depends on too many factors to just name a number. It begins with what you are planning to serve in terms of food and beverages. The size of your space and it's location will determine the cost of your rent or property purchase. Beyond that, you've got construction costs, food and liquor licenses, equipment costs, insurance, software purchases, and a long list of things to consider. Turn-key operations could sell for as little as $70,000 or sometimes less, where bigger operations soar into the tens of millions. If you hope to open a restaurant some day, there are many things to consider before cost.
