A consultant can mean many things in many orgs. If you are at MBB, you're probably over 200K. If you in public accounting consulting, you are probably around 120-140. In corporate, you are probably around 100. It all depends. If you want to make a lot of money, MBB is the route and fast.

Hi Julia!
Depending on the company, the salary ranges from $76k to $180k.
You can always search the latest ranges by typing something like "senior consultant pay in NYC" onto Google and it will give you the ranges according to major sites like Glassdoor, Levels and Salary.com.
I hope this helps.
Best of luck!

I'd expect it would vary depending on what kind of consultant. Management, Tax, IT, etc.
https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/KPMG-Senior-Consultant-New-York-City-Salaries-EJI_IE2867.0,4_KO5,22_IL.23,36_IM615.htm says avg. $113k which seems low for NYC.
https://www.indeed.com/career/senior-consultant/salaries/New-York--NY says avg. is $124k but I think they also include salaries for people that are not in traditional Consulting roles.
https://www.salary.com/research/salary/posting/senior-management-consultant-salary/new-york-ny lists $144k for a Management Consultant which I'd think is more reasonable.
You'll want to consider the cost of living in NYC and to see if you might be better off with a lower salary in other cities.

Salaries for senior consultants vary depending on the firm, but typically range from around $125,000 to $175,000. Bonuses and other compensation can add another $50,000 or more to that total. And with a little bit of negotiation power, it's possible to make even more. Of course, there are many factors that go into determining salary (years of experience, skills and abilities, position within the company, etc.), so this answer should not be taken as gospel.
