Many colleges offer fire science degrees. While you're at it also pursue learning how to be a paramedic, which is an advanced EMT. Then there are specialized courses and schools where you learn about advanced subjects such as hazzardous materials (chemical, nuclear, biological), explosives, and emergency management (such as for large scale disasters). My father started as a boot in a local fire department and became an Arson Investigator. His dept even sent him to the National Fire Academy once in PA. But this career path required him along the way studying and passing many civil service exams. For instance being a Arson Investigator also meant he had to know fire codes for commercial buildings.
I recommend finding a department that will sponsor your training. Just as my cousin did. The work is extremely physical. The gear alone weighs nearly 100 lbs, then you get to wear it in 100+ degree heat or in sub freezing temps while demolishing a burning structure. Make sure you are physically fit to do it. I also say this because even if you are fit, later on you may develop back, knee, or hip problems. It's a very noble and exciting career though, and you get to serve people in your community and save lives. Many fire departments offer explorer programs for people to train and try it out. As many volunteer depts can't find enough qualified people. As I remember as a kid my dad would work 4 days on and 3 off. However that's probably changed. He also worked with a lot more guys, then dept's now. Who have to work with decreasing man power.

Alot of Colleges offer a training course. Same as a police academy. It is not a degree program.
