Hi Honestee,
If you're looking to be a vet one day, prior to applying to schools to study veterinary medicine you can start to do some work/volunteer experience to strengthen your application.
You could look for opportunities at an animal shelter or farm near where you live, or to get experience in the reception of a veterinary clinic. This will give you more first-hand experience, as well as demonstrate your experience in caring for animals

I would say a good way to start is to try to work somewhere like the humane society and if you can do this while on school as well you can possibly use it as on the job training as well. I know someone that is currently going to Wayne State and does this and it has truly helped her throughout the process.
