How worthy is it to take a BS/MD program if you want to be a doctor?
How worthy is it to take a BS/MD program if you want to be a doctor?
As a pre-health student in high school, I've always wondered if the BS/MD program is worthy because I'm worried about costs and not being able to graduate with my friends. What's your advice on that?

If you know that there is nothing else you want to do in life except pursue medicine, a BS/MD program will help streamline that. The typical medical school admissions cycle is tough and if you have the opportunity attend a BS/MD program you can avoid it all together. However at the same time, if you are at all unsure about medical school I think it is better to attend a regular 4 year program where you will have time to learn if medicine is something you really want to do.

My son is in BS/MD program. I feel that if you are sure you want to be a doctor, it's the best-streamlined program that leads you to your goal. Additionally, I think that life will be more relaxed because you are not worried if you are doing everything to get into med school.
