Does anyone know of any good equine colleges?

I have a few years to think about it, so it's not a rushed decision by any means, but I have been looking around at colleges and have a small list. I was wondering if anyone else had any other colleges that would be good for me to add to my list.
So, I want to go to college and major in Equine Studies or some other equine major. I plan to be a horse trainer and/or riding instructor, and my dream is to start a business where I can do both, and probably and up boarding horses and offering transportation services too. Some colleges that I've been thinking about are the University of Findlay, William Woods University, Emory & Henry University, and a couple others. I just kind of want some other colleges with good equine programs, and if anyone knows any other majors that would suit my needs better, that'd be great to know too.

Hi Cera! I'm glad I found your question! Regarding all things Equine, Centenary University is the place to go. I actually attended there for 2 years. It's a very hands on experience with horses, and Centenary is loaded with knowledgeable professors, great horses and great experiences. You actually get credits for riding too which is a big plus! Centenary also brought people from all over the country so I got to meet a lot of great people when I was there. It is also so easy to get involved with horse shows, clinics, etc. This place really allows all their equine students to flourish!!

In addition to the information you've already received, you might also want to check into the University of Kentucky and the Bluegrass Community & Technical College system's equine programs, both located in the heart of horse country in Lexington, KY. I'm not sure what particular area of equine studies you're looking at, but they have many programs. Best of luck to you!

Hi Cera,

I don't think I'll be of much help here, but I do know that Ohio State has a degree for Equine Facilities & Marketing. Michigan State also has a degree in Equine Management and Training.

I'm a Spartan myself and I know how strong MSU's veterinary school is, I would think their Equine degrees would be equally strong.

I wish you the best!

Molly
