What are the requirements for becoming a CPA in Kansas?
How many credits do you have to have? Do you have to work a certain amount of time before taking the exam?

You need 150 credit hours with 42 of those being in business and gen ed courses, 11 hours in communication, 30 hours in accounting theory and practice. You don't need to work a certain amount of time but you must be employed by a Kansas public accounting firm . In 2024, you will also need a course in data analytics for business or accounting. I believe you need a year of experience in accounting to qualify as a CPA, but you don't need a year of experience after passing all 4 parts of the exams.
Thanks for the informative answer Ian!!

Hi there! All of the requirements can be found on your state board’s website: https://nasba.org/exams/cpaexam/kansas/.
Then if you scroll to the section that says “ Accountancy Licensing Library” and click on the link at the bottom of that section, it gives you a choice for student. You can follow all those prompts to understand what the requirements are.
Generally speaking, you need to have a certain amount of credits from your education, then on top of that work requirements and of course passing the exam. every state is different as to how many in each category they require.
