I'm thinking about starting a true crime podcast but I don't know what materials I would need. Any ideas?

Hi Taylor! Its great that you want to start a podcast and are asking for advice on where/how to start. Since you already have a core idea of what the podcast would talk about, you have a good first step. On the more technical side of things, I would really invest into a quality microphone and headphones. A good website to follow for new podcasters would be the website/app anchor. They help distribute your podcast to several platforms and also provide the tools for editing, recording, and uploading on the site itsel. I would highly reccomend starting there!

Taylor, my first suggestion would be to craft an outline on your topic of choice -- will it be a true crime, solved or unsolved? Will you be recounting a story behind the crime (think Dateline) or crowdsourcing others to help solve a cold case? Once you have the top level of content, consider who your target audience is and how you intend to frame the narrative to compel and engage listeners to return week after week. Will it be a series? What kind of experts will be featured, if any? Good luck!

Hi,
I would recommend a quality microphone, a neutral background, and being on camera if you are hosting any live webcast. If you are strictly doing audio podcast, then ensuring back ground noise is minimal, stay on topic, and be natural. Best of luck!
