"Rich" is not a well defined term. How much money do you need to consider yourself rich?

How long it takes depends on two things - how much you earn, and how much you spend. If you eat out every meal, have a huge apartment/house, buy all the latest gadgets and gizmos, your spending will be very high, and it will take a LONG time to become "rich".

A quick search shows that wages for welders vary from $25k - $60K per year.

Found this answer on Quora and it honestly speaks to your inquiry. "You can become very comfortable and perhaps even wealthy with a traditional job like being a welder. Take a percentage of your earnings each paycheck and set that aside for investing. It is seldom going to be ANY job, or ANY profession, that makes one wealthy. Wealth comes from the investments that they make with their wages."

Steady income + steady savings/investing - excessive spending = potential wealthy or comfortable living

Speaking as a welder, the more hours you work, the more money you get paid. It also depends on what type of welding you do and and certifications you have. Entry level wages also depend upon the area you live in. If you are able, find a good welding program at a local college or university of you want more money upon entry into the field.
