Hi Daniel! Colleges love to see high school students that are active in a variety of different fields. Like you stated, taking AP's is a great way of showing you take initiative and want to challenge yourself. Other ways to increase your chances include joining clubs, sports teams, and volunteering to help your community. If you know what you want your major to be in college look for clubs that are relevant to that major. For example, if you want to major in business, look for clubs like Future Business Leaders of America(FBLA), debate club, or a communications club. Looking in to sports teams is a way of standing out as well. Look and see if your school or town offers club sports or maybe try out for a sport within your high school program. Last but not least, volunteering. There are different volunteer services that are always looking for extra hands to help. It can be anything from teaching sports, cooking meals, or cleaning. I hope this information helps and have a great day Daniel!
Thank you so much, Dean!

Hi Daniel,
You could try volunteering in the field that you are going to apply for at the college/ university. You could also look for a paid/ unpaid internship at local places while you are still at school. You could also do the internship in the Summer. Take AP classes in the field you want to go into as well. Also you could look at sports and other extracurricular activities that interests you. Make sure you have at least two letters on recommendations too. And a great personal essay prepared (as some colleges/ uni require it)
Also there are a lot of college prep tutors and advisors that offer assistance in applying to college/ universities. Check out your schools noticeboard for them.
And lastly refer to you school advisors for advice too.

Some ways to increase your chances into getting into a better college are involving yourself in extracurriculars and clubs around your high school. By doing this, it will help show your interest outside the classroom and help engage college admissions officers. On top of that, studying for the standardized test ahead of time will help give you the best chance to score higher than most.
