Caden’s Answer
There are so many courses available online that you can use to teach yourself most things about the field. The best way to give yourself a head start is to find a problem you want to solve or an item you want to create and then program an application for it. Getting hands on experience like that working through problems early on will give you a great head start over your peers when it comes to finding internships and learning the material that will be taught at your university.
Thank you, this is amazing! I really needed it.

Hey Ashton!
Just like in any professional field, there's a wealth of high school summer programs out there designed to help you hone skills such as computer science. Make the most of your school years by applying to these programs - they're a fantastic way to establish connections with schools and companies alike.
I've included a link below to an AI Summer Bootcamp at Harvard. This could be a great stepping stone for you in your career journey. Remember, this is just one of many such programs available at renowned institutions.

Hi Ashton
Research taking AP classes in computer science at high school. Take college level classes at high school if your high school offers it.
Baljit recommends the following next steps:
Take math classes with some science courses. Ask you counselor/ advisor about what kind of classes you should take to remain on track for the Computer Science program.
Also contact the colleges/ universities admissions for advice on what the next steps should be to get into that school. Let them know your background.
Upon completing try to tutor in Computer Science to other students if you feel comfortable. You might want to apply for internships in you area too.

Ashton,
Computer Science is a great field to explore as many careers could benefit from this background. I would recommend to anyone looking to make a career out of computer science to familiarize oneself with some of the coding languages out there to help gain a better understanding of how it all works. Sign yourself up for workshops or watch YouTube videos on how to code and learn what kind of courses you should be taking so that when taking college courses, they line up to a degree that will help you progress in the CS field. I hope this helps you a bit!
Best of luck!

There are programs for programming languages. If you know what is the area of interest - Gaming /animation/programming etc there are suitable programs. Also Udemy or Coursera have the free courses that you try and see what is interesting.
Certain Computer Science paths lead to Engineering and some to Art or Services. If you are open to options, there are wide range of jobs that you can intern once you gain foundational knowledge.
