Dear NHLAKANIPHO
The word technician is a broad term. It usually refers to someone who takes care of the technical aspects of an industry to keep things functioning, machines running and lights on. Traditional ideas of technicians are mechanics, electricians, plumbers etc. but it is far more than that. In the medical industry for example, the people who run lab equipment are technicians and those who operate the heart and lung machines during open heart surgery are not doctors, they are technicians.
In the field of engineering, you might have a mechanical engineer but also a draftsman who is the technician. In the space of engineering there are many types of technicians:
.
Environmental engineering technicians (this becomes so much more important in the era and challenges we as humanity have ahead of us)
Aerospace engineering and operations technician (my dad did this job and loved it his whole life)
Broadcast and sound engineering technicians (this can be really cool if you are interested in entertainment or music, the behind the scenes people make the concert run smoothly.
Electrical service technicians (there should be a large market for these types of technicians with the challenges SA faces with electricity at the moment)
Cable technicians (see point above).
So I will answer your question with a question: What do you love to do and see yourself happy to wake up doing every day. Once you have identified the field, we can look for some options in that niche.
