Hi Samantha,
I believe it's a lot like being a police officer. In fact, the training might be the same. Being a police office can be a great job. They typically offer on the job training for free. And when you graduate with the right grades, they give you a job. Most of the time they pay you during the schooling as well!
After you get a job as a police officer, they will help pay for higher education. I see quite a number of police officers going on to law school because their job includes so much law as it is. It's a good way to get good pay right away after high school and get your college paid for if you want to go.
Word of warning, most police training programs to drug tests and lie detector tests. Being a druggie is a no no when it comes to being a police officer for obvious reasons. Hopefully you don't have this problem to deal with. If you are thinking about law enforcement, don't even think about starting. Staying out of trouble is your number one priority.
Hope this helps

Call your local police station (not 911) and ask them if they have a trainee program and how to find it.
Search the web for police trainee programs in your area
Learn what are the requirements to be accepted into the police program
Graduate Highschool
See if you can find a police explorer program to join while in highschool

To become a school resource officer, you must first become a sworn, career police officer.Typically, one applies to a law enforcement agency for employment and then completes the training that agency requires of its recruits to become a law enforcement officer.

First step is to finish school first. Look into taking criminal justice classes will help you. Look into applying with an agency that has an academy or you could put yourself through academy school and look for an agency after graduation. If you want to work as a school resource officer take additional classes and learn how to work with kids. Try working out in the field for a few years to gain the experience before jumping right into school resource.
