Hi there!
You'd be surprised at how many tech companies (big and small) are no longer requiring you to have a 4-year degree to work for them in computer science. So if a 4-year college seems like too expensive, check out your local community college to see if they have a computer science program, or search "computer science certification programs" or even "computer science certification program for [Microsoft, Amazon, or Google]" to find one that fits your budget/timeline. There are many online programs that exist as well, so you don't have to move to a new city.

I'd recommend checking with the community college near you. You don't necessarily need to attend a University for this and CC's are a good economical alternative to start with. Once you find your purpose/passion, you can always transfer to a 4 year school if desired.

The most famous university in the country for Technology degrees is undoubtedly MIT, closely followed by Stanford University. I agree with the comment above that a lot of technology companies are no longer asking for a degree (I work for one) but you would have to show something else such as work experience, certifications, etc.
I hope this helps!
