Taking any AP classes like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology, Statistics and passing the exams are helpful, but don't sweat too much about it. Taking AP History or English classes may also be helpful because you might receive credit in college for these general education courses if you pass the AP exams. If available in your high school or community college, Medical Terminology or Microbiology are some more specific classes you can take.

Some CNA or Nurse Aide programs require you to only be 16 years old. You can also work or volunteer at clinics, rehab facilities, etc.

But honestly, don't overdo it and burn yourself out. Going into medical studies requires a lot of patience and learning how to pace yourself. Take time to learn material, relax, and have fun. Learning one class well is better than barely learning three classes.

Take it Honor and AP science and math classes will give you a good basis for a field in the medical industry. Meeting with your guidance counselor to discuss extra course that will assist you in this will also be helpful. Some high schools also pair with community colleges to help students in their junior and senior year get a head start on their general education courses so they can be ahead of the curve when applying for colleges. Volunteer at hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and any where in the medical filed that allows high school volunteers will give a good advantage as well. Entering into the medical field is time consuming and stressful as it is a constantly hectic and ever moving field. Working now to learn emotion regulation (meditation, self-care, yoga) will aid you as you work toward your goals. Burn out is high in the medical industry and often medical workers don’t take time for themselves leading to quicker burn out. Learning at a young age that putting self-care as priority is important in order to help others. You cannot help other’s if you have no gas in your gas tank. Best of luck!
