The safest and best way is through a technical school, either at the high school or secondary level. You could also look for an internship at a local welding shop and see if someone would be willing to teach you.

Going to technical school or a college that teaches welding is one way to learn. If you have friends or family that are welders you could ask them to show you how to weld. There are some business that will teach you how to weld. I happen to find a business close to where I live that will teach you how to mig & tig weld. You start out just welding scrap piece together and once they see your getting the hang of it they'll put you with a trainer and you watch them build a tank to see how its done. Then you will build the next tank with your trainer watching and walking you though the process. They'll stay with you while you build your first 2-3 tanks. By then you will be able to build one on your own. If your having trouble with something you can ask any of the other tank builders or supervisor for a hand and they'll happily help you figure out what your struggling with or doing wrong. Welding isn't for everyone and some people can't get the hang of it. There's nothing wrong with that and the business will offer to move you to a different position in the company. This can make some people very unhappy or mad and they don't want to move. The business has no other option but to let them go.
