Can you tell me about engineering and or psychology?

I'm stuck between the two at the moment and I'm struggling to choose which one I want to do, on one hand I like engineering and the design aspect of it. But on the other hand I'm very interested in psychology, I want to help people. Is there any way my interests can branch off to maybe something like art therapy? Or is there a way I can learn more about the fields to make my final decision?

Jarvis, it is great to see someone who has strong interests. You should see about combining these. Please look up "Human-centered design" (HCD). I see a wiki page on it. Good engineering takes into account how users will react tother designs. Knowledge of Psychology would be perfect. If this area interests you, find colleges that support such a focused education or that will let you get a dual degree. You will stand out with such an education. Also, even if you end up pursuing only one of these interests, the cross education will only help you down the road.

Interests and likes or passion can be combine, they are both source of happiness and ends to humanitarianism. Your interest should go first and art can be practices at leisure. In a situation where you cannot hand both at same time, take them one at a time starting with what interest you the art is always an act of expression and stress reliever

Hello Jarvis, I was a Psychology major in college. For about the first two years, you will be doing all the electives of psychology which encompass the basic history, principles and ethical matters. You will also be introduced to statistic if you haven't learn it yet which bring me up to the next point: Psychology focus a lot on research as a major. While the practical works such as therapy and counseling are mentioned, you won't be getting that kind of experience until you get to a Master program or maybe even PhD. If you want to know if you are ready for that path, try to look for job in ABA. I am working in that field too and I will say, it definitely a reality check, but I digress. Another recommendation is if the school you attending have club, organization or professor who offer advisors, check in with them for more resources as well as networking to learn more about the programs. Psychology is very broad, which mean you will need to narrow your direction as time goes on. Finally, do not fall for the "I want to help people" idea too hard. It is a good mentality but never let that overburden you with stress and burn out

That all for now but please feel free to reach out for further questions. Good luck with your endeavor Jarvis
