It’s all dependent on how much you’d like to apply it to your daily life. I’ve had many situations as a mechanic where my personal or a friend or families car was stuck on the side of the road, using my knowledge and experience, I’ve almost always been able to assist and get them on there way with a quick trip to a parts store and a few hand tools. The beauty about automotive and the different automotive systems is they almost always work the same way as the systems in other fields.
