College Admissions
How would it benefit me to add SAT scores to my college applications if they're not considered for admissions?

Any form of standardized academic evaluation like SAT and ACT are beneficial if you did well in the examination.
How would they be beneficial though? Would they be considered for scholarships?

You can look at the average SAT score- I believe it's around 1060, and compare yours to that. In addition, if you to the College Board website it will list the average SAT score for most schools. If your score is above their average I would recommend submitting it. I'm not sure how it would affect scholarships, but it can help your chances of being accepted.

Standardized tests are highly recommended when applying to colleges and even if they don't ask for it you should list it out on your application , especially if your scores were really good! If you didn't score as well as you wanted and you don't want that to penalize you, then you can leave it out as it's not mandatory. I would do research to see what an average/minimum score is for the college you are applying to and base that off of your score to see if you should include it or not!
Thank you for taking the time to help.

Having a son, who's a senior in high school, we're in the very middle of the applications process! General rule of thumb is to look at posted SAT averages of admittance into specific universities you want to apply to. If your score is in that range or above, submit your SAT (or ACT) score. If you are below, I'd not recommend submitting and that's A-OK. University admissions folks we've spoken with seem genuinely excited to look to other attributes for deciding admissions. Some schools, like Worcester Polytechnic University, in Mass, is test "blind," meaning they look at noone's SAT/ACT scores. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the advice.
