What are some good tech internships I should look into in high school?
I'm interested in computer hardware and I have built a PC in the past but I don't want to get an internship at a fast food restaurant, I want an internship that connects to my interests in technology.

I've pasted some great internships for high school students below but those can be very location specific.
Have you tried Forage?
Forage is a bit different than the other internship options in that its work experiences last only a few hours. However, there are a lot of offerings, and it's easy to register for a program if you're interested. All you need to do is enter your email, and you'll be able to complete the program at your own pace. The programs are created by companies and require participants to carry out day-to-day tasks actual workers do. Some current tech offerings include a back-end engineering experience with Lyft, a developer program with Accenture, and a cybersecurity program with MasterCard. Forage claims completing these programs will give you a big leg up when applying to jobs, which may be a bit exaggerated, but they can be great to add to your portfolio or resume, especially if you're a high school student just starting to get experience.

I am currently working for Verizon and although I am not in a Tech role myself I have seen over the years that they have a really good Internship program with many of the students coming to work here full time. I am based outside of the USA so I am not 100% sure how the program works, regarding securing a placement, but I believe we partner with https://naf.org/ so that might be a good place to start. Good Luck!

For internship opportunities, you could ask your HS counselors, but if they're anything like mine were, that won't get you anything. Instead, schedule appointments with career counselors at colleges and universities. These are the people that would have a better insight into internships because companies who are interested in interns are going to reach out to post secondary institutions, not high schools, because it'll net them fewer, higher quality applicants to filter through. You may not get an internship right away but at least you'd gain knowledge of the path forward to them early on and be ahead of the game.

Samuel, you are correct - fast food is not an internship. Use Google for this: search the term "great internships for high school students". Are there any local companies or tech service organizations near you who might let you intern with them? ASK! Check with your counselor, look at career websites, etc. Roll up your sleeves. This requires research! Good luck.
