Hello, Mehnaz!
Scholarships are absolutely fantastic and should always strive to receive one. I received a merit-based scholarship (based on academics) to go to my university and it truly changed my college experience. I was able to go out-of-state and have little debt after college, which is one of the best things imaginable.
When looking for colleges, apply to places that will give you as much scholarship as possible based on your academics or sports-related activities if possible. You can also apply to other scholarships, which may require an additional essay or activity to "win" it. There is no harm in applying to additional scholarships because any additional money will help with school funds and thus allow for more time for academics first and foremost, and subsequently allow for more time for additional paying jobs, internships, and the more fun aspects of college.
Additionally, always assess your specific financial situation and evaluate if going to a community college for your first two years and then applying to a state school or university for the last two years would make more sense financially.
