Did you have any trouble getting into your field as a lawyer?

It would also be appreciated if you can leave your name, your job title, and what company you work for. Thank you.

Thank you comment icon It is very helpful to do as much outreach as you can to build your resume. Once you identify the field you are interested in, it is beneficial to volunteer/intern. Many firms have summer programs or work study programs that you can participate in to develop contacts. Sarah Witlen

Jonathan’s Answer

Yes. I started as a bankruptcy attorney which was the department I selected as a summer. I had a real hard time trying to switch to tax. I am in my own now so I have some latitude to pick the work I do

Amir’s Answer

Hi Graciela,
Many factors may cause you to land on a field that is not your favorite. My dream was to practice law as a District Attorney, but none of my summer internship applications were accepted by counties around me. So, I lost it, and it is too late to pursue the DA role.

Thank you
