It's definitely difficult. It's very easy to get burned out if you don't look after yourself. You have good days and bad days, like anything else. :)
Things I don't like:
1. Dismissive owners who think that they know better than you. And the animal's health suffers because of it.
2. The job takes an emotional and mental toll on you. You really have to learn how to take care of yourself and not overdo it.
3. Not being able to help/cure an animal.
Three things I like:
1. You get to work as a true team with you staff. You get to know them and form a sort of second family, if you're in a good environment.
2. The animals! They're always cheering me up and getting me out of my funk throughout the day. They're the best part of the job :)
3. When I get it right! As time goes by, you start to become more confident in your diagnoses (tho the universe will always come and knock you down a peg or two!) and in your plans to find out what's going on with the animal. So when you get it right and the animal is recovering and feeling better, it's such a great feeling.
