A day in the life of a busy Designer, much depends on how many clients you accept at a time and how large and complex the projects are, I am a list maker, this habit has saved my bacon many times. I check the list for any time sensitive issues and do whatever is necessary to cross them off the list, for example the drapery workroom needs additional fabric to complete a job because of a fabric defect or or added item and this will delay the project if not tended to asap, priority it is very important to maintain your schedule of events or you will loose control of all the moving parts and have very upset contractors and clients. If I have a new client appointment I begin my day with confirmation calls and prepare for our first meeting by mapping directions to the intended job site . I check my brief case for tape measure, tablet or graft paper, pen and paper and computer etc. Also, any paperwork that may require a signature. Other days I have a long shopping list to satisfy with a client and we shop for beautiful and useful objects and furnishings . interrupted only by a nice lunch if time permits. Some days are spent driving to job sites to check progress and insure everyone is on the same page, if I find a problem I can help solve whatever it may be, I kick off my shoes replaced with old tennis shoes and pin up my hair , grab a hammer or shovel, screwdriver, paintbrush, whatever and get the job done. Problem solving 101. I'm exhausted just explaining these duties lol I love being a designer and have been for many, many years, it is hard work and you have to keep your head in the game but it is so much fun and the rewards are many. You make life long friends with clients and contractors and even vendors all a big family. When a project is completed and your clients are in happy tears from the results and you look around and ask yourself, How do I know how to do this, I too am rewarded for all the hard work with the beautiful results time and time again.

It varies from day to day but in my case what I usually do in the morning is updating my vendor library to stay update with the current products. I'm also active in social media presenting my work. Working with clients I do site visit for measurements and understanding the building style and neighborhood tone. I then provide a space layout which if accepte by the client, I will start a Mood Board/Look book, design renderings or jump into material specifications and price list. I have a vendor library that I put together so I can easily find specific material/items for the proper home based on its design style. My client is in real estate business so she will do all the ordering of material and installation with her contractor. I hope this helps.
This is actually so helpful ☺️
