Any advice for a person who wants to go to music therapy college??
I'm a 19 year old and I would like to go to apply for a music therapy degree and start studying in October 2023 in Vienna.
What are some important things I should know?
Like for example about the entrance exams or about the studies in general?
I would be very grateful to read your feedback.

Hi Mila,
Is this the school you are looking at:
https://www.mdw.ac.at/stdmp/mth-ba-zulassung/ ?
It seems admission is by test and the info sheet gives some information what to expect.
Are you currently working with a music teacher? I would very much recommend to prepare for this test with a professional, ideally with a music therapist, but at least with a music teacher who can correct you and help with selection of pieces.
Good luck!

My Sister-in-Law recently completed this and loves it. Any time you can study or major in a subject that helps people is a welcome. The love she receives back from the people and places she works at is unquestionable and totally worth it. Thiers not enough of this in the world today.
Thank you so much for your answer. I'm really passionate about helping people so I think I'm making the right choice with picking this career. I'm glad your sister in law is happy with her choice too. I can just imagine how fulfilling it must be!

Hi Mila,
I can offer advice based on the career profile of Music therapists in the US and Canada. It's a rewarding career with a positive outlook in US/Canada. Considering we work for more than 100,000 hours in our life span, you should be clear on what exactly you would do in the career path of a Music Therapist.
I would strongly recommend that you review the role of the music therapist and what it entails as far as Tasks, Technology Skills, Work Activities, Detailed Work Activities, and Work Context. In parallel, you should self-evaluate your interest, Work Values, and Work Styles and their synergy with the role of a Music Therapist. This link will give you more insights - https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/29-1129.02
Additional resources to review:

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions for me.
Take care,
Neschay

This sounds like a wonderful option for you, especially if music is something you are passionate about! You will be able to help people cope with mental health and other personal issues they may face, all while doing something you enjoy. This does not mean it will necessarily be easy, but it seems like a great fit for you and all your hard work will pay off!
Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, music is something I'm really passionate about and I would love to help people using music. Easy or not I'm willing to commit for this career. Thank you again!
