How do you get referrals from other doctors or peers as a LCP/counselor/art therapist ?

Hello! This is a follow up question, but for background I am enrolling in a Maters program that will allow me to graduate with credentials to be certified as an LCP with a focus in art therapy. I would love to one day open private practice as well to offer art therapy. I’m curious how you establish and maintain referrals from other doctors or contacts who will suggest your practice to clients. Specifically, how are these connections made? What does this partnership entail? Why would others be incentivized to recommend your practice? What are they getting out of it? Thank you in advance for any guidance! I really hope to understand this amazing career!

What education is required to become an art or music therapist? What does a typical day look like in these fields?

I was wondering what education is required to become a music or art therapist. Is there a scholarship available for either? Also, would it be possible to combine both into one experience and can you only do one at a time? I would like to do both at the same time because I like both art and music and find it interesting that I can use things that I love to help other people.

Should I major in music therapy with a piano performance minor, or major in music therapy and then get a masters in piano performance from a more prestigious school?

My future career goal is to primarily be a music therapist and private music instructor, but I would also like to be a professional concert pianist, perhaps touring every summer or every other summer with a few gigs throughout the year. Technically, the only degree I need is a music therapy degree, but would a minor be necessary? Or possibly I could just major in music therapy and then maybe get a piano performance masters if I decide afterwards that I need one? Also then what college should I go to? I have met with a professional opera singer from the Met, and he emphasized connections in college and how important it is to have a recognized teacher, but I am having trouble deciding.

Any advice for a person who wants to go to music therapy college??

I'm a 19 year old and I would like to go to apply for a music therapy degree and start studying in October 2023 in Vienna. What are some important things I should know? Like for example about the entrance exams or about the studies in general? I would be very grateful to read your feedback.

What other instruments will I have to learn for a career in music therapy?

I already play two instruments–piano and French horn. I have yet to be able to master French horn to a certain extent. The piano is going well. I'm just interested in knowing what other instruments I'll need to learn for music therapy. #music #music-therapy #instrumentation #career

What does a day in the life of a musical therapist consist of?

I have always had a passion for music but I'm afraid of not becoming as big of a singer I would want. I have been taking a lot of career searching tests and this made me realize how much I love helping people as well. So I want to know more about musical therapy before actually pursuing it. #psychology #music-therapy
