Kelsey’s Answer

Hi there (:

There are actually many dental hygiene schools that you graduate with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene! I myself have a Bachelor’s of Science in Dental Hygiene. In dental hygiene school you learn so much about dentistry, general dentistry, dental materials, etc. Your bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene is a more than adequate bachelor’s degree to then apply to dental school. Hope this helps. Good luck! (:

Rachel’s Answer

Each dental school has their own requirements. Dental hygiene plus biology may or may not be sufficient- check your preferred dental school’s website for their particular requirements. This is particularly important if you complete a hygiene program from community college.

After completion of dental school, general dentists can take continuing education courses and provide orthodontic services. Should you want to be a Orthodontic specialist, this is an additional two year specialty program after dental school and each program has their specific requirements.

Amal’s Answer

You need a bachelors degree in order to apply to dental school. Dental Hygiene programs do not earn you a bachelors degree. A four year undergraduate program will typically have the courses necessary to qualify you to graduate with a bachelors degree.

John Arjay’s Answer

Good day!

Undergraduate refers to Bachelor's degree. Dental Hygiene is a start to be knowledgeable about the field. But dental school requires bachelor's degree for the program. Any major is okay for the bachelor degree but majoring in biology and/or chemistry is an advantage.

After the bachelor's degree, you can now apply for dental school to start your journey to become an orthodontist.

Goodluck!
