What degree should I get if I want to research psychology?
I have no preference for being the head researcher or assistant. Is it easier to get a job if I have a higher degree? Are higher degrees worth my time or is it more cost-effective to stay with my BS?

Some research positions may take bachelors-level research assistants, and you may even be able to find some unpaid internships or opportunities while you're still pursuing your bachelor's degree. These are typically roles that are dedicated to admin, such as collecting informed consent forms or data entry. If you're interested in clinical research where you're actually working with patients and writing research, you would most likely need a master's degree at minimum. All PhD programs in any psychology field require you to have research experience by the time of completion and you will have to write a dissertation if you want a research-heavy career, but if you're looking to just get your feet wet then you can explore the entry-level research roles.

Good day!
I'm currently doing my masters degree in Psychology. If you want to be a researcher in the field of psychology, you should decide what field of/in psychology you want to focus on; you have a lot of options such as clinical, counseling, I/O etc. or you can major in general psychology to give you an open and wider option.
The education requirement of a psychology researcher according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, is at least masters degree in psychology or ph.d in Psychology.
Good luck!
