Agents are required to have a 4 year degree. Many have advanced degrees but the 4 year degree is a minimum. It can be pretty much any field but some fields make you a more desirable candidate. The needs of the Bureau change over time but traditionally law , accounting, foreign languages , hard sciences and computers are the most sought after. Best advice is get a degree in something that interests you so in case you end up not being hired , you still have an education that can get you a job you will like .

As previously mentioned, a 4 year degree is required, but an advanced degree is certainly recommended. While careers in accounting, law, computer science/forensics, physical sciences are traditional, an important thing to note is that the average age of a new agent is +/- 31. Most new agents come into the Bureau with several years of work/military experience. Military experience may be one of the most direct routes as in federal law enforcement and the federal workforce in general, veterans receive a nice level of privilege.
If your heart is set on becoming an FBI agent, attending a college in or near Washington, DC may be your best bet as the school will likely have career events and well connected faculty possibly allowing for mentoring and networking opportunities. Attending a military academy is also a great start to a career in federal service.
