I am a student looking for a career and I am currently looking at the web and digital design occupation. I am wondering if there are places on the internet to find an employer.

There are several online platforms where you can search for potential employers as a student looking for a career in web and digital design:
-LinkedIn: A professional networking site where you can connect with potential employers, view job listings, and get hired.
-Glassdoor: A job search and company review website that provides insights into salaries, company culture, and more.
-Indeed: A job search engine that allows you to search for job listings from multiple websites.

Chirayu provides a good list of places to search. I would only add the US government which offers many jobs (especially entry level), see https://www.usajobs.gov/.

I personally like to use LinkedIn and Glassdoor first. Glassdoor gives you information like how employees rank the company, its culture, benefits, jobs that are open, etc. LinkedIn gives you insight to what the company is and does so you can see if its something that you might be interested in.
To me the most important things I look for is if (1) its something I'd be passionate about, (2) something I know my skills can provide value, (3) what the culture of the company is. So for further research, I start Googling and the specific company site to do more research. I also like to read customer feedback if they are a company that provides some kind of product/service. Really anything that helps paint a good picture of what I would be going into if I were hired for that particular position and company.

Hi Christopher,
There are a variety of sources you can go to find web and digital design employers. Because we live in a digital world, my first start would be the internet. You can search by job title to see what the requirements are for the specific job and the different companies looking for that role. If you want to look at a certain type of company say, publishers. You can first look up specific publishing companies and then go to their websites to see what they have listed. The local librarian, either at school or in your community is a under used resource for information as well. You can go to the local yellow pages and find a person who has a business in your community and reach out to them. Most professionals would be willing to engage in a discussion with you about what they do and the steps they took to get where they are. Finally, you can look up professional associations for web designers and digital designers and go to their websites. They will also be great resources for you to learn about the industry and opportunities that exist. They may also be great sources for scholarships if you are interested in going to college.
Good Luck
