Mr.N ,
Good day. I am wondering what type of project are you considering for your science project? Do you have any clear idea on what you want to do as of now? Thank you I will try and direct you if I am able to help.

Thank you comment icon Thank you for replying! I am considering a research project upon a different approach of biomarkers in pancreatic cancer. You're very welcome & good day to you as well! Farah
Thank you comment icon Ok great. This is a field for doctors. You may want to begin by interviewing cancer institutions, Hematology, oncology doctors to see if you can maybe talk with or get any interviewing done with any of these individuals. Another idea is to go to the schools of medicine in your area or call them and see if any programs are available. I am sure with whatever you have you have much dedication and compassion for a great approach for a science project. I will also review what is in the area as well. I will let you know what I found by tomorrow. Holly Z.
Thank you comment icon Hi Nusrat! I'm glad you got some helpful advice here. One thing to be aware of is that to protect your safety and security, we don't allow our volunteers to give you direct contact information for themselves or others. It's important to build your network first-hand! Jared Chung, Admin
Thank you comment icon www.ccny.cuny.edu/premed/ This is a pre medical center in the City of New York. I suggest that you do networking with your instructors at your high school for sufficient individuals to help you with this great project Good Luck. Holly Z.

Hello Farah,

Even though a decade has passed since you asked this question, I'm sure the advice I'm about to share will still be beneficial to others looking for guidance on finding potential mentors:

- Explore Summer Programs: Engage in summer programs that provide research opportunities. These programs are fantastic for linking you with professors who can steer your project in the right direction. The Pathways website (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/competitions/how-to-find-a-stem-mentor) is a great place to start looking for science and engineering programs.

- Join Online Mentorship Programs: Sign up for online academic research mentorship programs designed for high school students. These programs offer personalized sessions with professors and graduate students, assisting you in honing your research skills and publishing your results.

- Connect with Local Colleges and Universities: Participate in non-research summer programs or enroll in classes at local colleges, universities, or research institutes. This exposure allows you to meet professors, and with a little determination, you could secure a research opportunity.

- Build Local Networks: Engage in conversations with faculty members at nearby institutions. There may be research opportunities available that you haven't discovered yet. Also, don't hesitate to connect with judges from past science competitions - their advice can be incredibly valuable.

Remember, mentors can provide you with valuable insights, access to labs, and assistance with troubleshooting experiments. Wishing you all the best in your quest!
