Victoria’s Answer

There is no one specific answer in terms of how hard veterinarian school is; this will all depend on the student. You will most likely be looking at attending graduate school to earn your masters, or even doctorates, which can be quite pricey. However, just like when applying for undergraduate schooling, you will be offered the chance to apply for financial aid, thus, price will depend on your financial situation.

Becoming a veterinarian is not the only option that is available to you if you are interested in working alongside animal care. There are a variety of paths you can take: vet technician, conservationist, zoologist, wildlife rehabilitation, animal health inspector, animal nutritionist, etc.

In the case you do choose to become a vet, there are different specializations you are able to choose from (just like we as humans have). A few examples include: wildlife, livestock (small and large), companion animal vets, laboratory vets, etc.

Autumn’s Answer

Victoria's answer is great. I would suggest writing down the pros and cons on a piece of paper, and ask yourself what is important to you. There are many paths in animal care, so compare and contrast those roles as well. Some things to consider are cost, amount of schooling, and your confidence in being the decision-maker as the doctor.
